About

I used to avoid data. It shows you ground truth, and it can be made to tell almost any story. For a long time the second part made me keep my distance.

That changed when I started working with health records at scale. AI can get through millions of patient notes way faster than a person can, and it can find patients nobody would have had time to look for. I'm CTO at Trio Health now, leading product, engineering, data and quality. We turn messy EHR data into datasets and cohorts that research teams can check for themselves, down to the note that put each patient there.

I write about two things. How teams work when agents write a lot of the code, like who checks what and how you plan when the old estimates stop meaning much. And AI in healthcare, where nobody builds evidence on a number they can't check.

What I care about most is the people on the other end of the work. The team building it, and the patients behind every record.

Before Trio I spent most of my career building software and the teams that build it. At Crafted I ran engineering and AI, and we rebuilt how we delivered software so AI was part of every step. One B2B portal went from nothing to shipped in six weeks. Before that I helped build a lending platform for loans in Latin America as a fractional engineering lead, and at Briza my team redesigned the data model so a new integration took two months instead of three. Twilio, SpotX and Pivotal Labs before that. I studied aerospace engineering at UT Austin. The longer version is on my resume.

I live in the Denver area with my family. Outside work it's mostly golf and skiing, and I'm slowly getting back to the piano.
